B i o g r a p h y
Chicago-based clarinetist Emily Kerski currently collaborates with Modern Reeds, 5th Wave Collective, Noise Bias and regularly performs with the DePaul University Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Wind Symphony.
Seeing music and the arts as powerful catalysts for social change, Emily is active in community musical engagement, learning, and participation, and a committed educator. Emily is on the faculty of The People's Music School and a Teaching Fellow for the DePaul Community Music Division. She is also a founding faculty member of the Junior Lift Clarinet Academy.
Emily is a contributing writer for Cacophony, Chicago's magazine for new music and culture, and a guest writer for the International Clarinet Association's BuzzReed blog.
An experienced arts administrator, Emily currently serves as Wind Symphony and Brass Ensemble Librarian at DePaul University and serves the International Clarinet Association as Index Manager of The Clarinet magazine.
Most recently, Emily co-founded the Modern Reeds contemporary recital series in Chicago, which is dedicated to the promotion of contemporary repertoire for woodwinds.
